Environmental Protection

Environmental protection has played an important role in our company from day one. Rudolf Rampf set a first milestone along this route with the invention of the first model making board in polyurethane. One aim of this development was to replace ornamental wood types like mahogany by plastic in order to slow down further erosion of the world’s forests. This development was followed by the consistent deployment of every conceivable technical and economical means to minimize environmental impact and conserve natural resources, culminating in the integration of RAMPF Ecosystems in 2003. Based in Pirmasens, this company specializes in the field of recycling. PUR chips generated by internal production and processing operations are chemically split in a reaction tank and processed to produce recycling polyol. This flows back into the manufacturing processes used for RAMPF products. As well as price savings compared to primary polyol and the substantial savings gained in terms of disposal costs, this offers a range of other benefits:

  • 100% return of occurring PUR chips to the production cycle
  • The process creates no exhaust fumes or any other solid or fluid substances as by-products
  • The recycled polyol is biodegradable in adaptive sewage plants, poses no threat to the ground water and is non-toxic to fish, dolphins, algae and luminescent bacteria
  • Unlike energetic utilization, no environmentally damaging CO2 emissions are created

Today, RAMPF Ecosystems possesses Europe’s biggest industrially utilizable plant for thermal glycolysis, placing our considerable expertise as a recycling specialist at the disposal of a wide customer base.

The members of the RAMPF Group are committed to an entrepreneurial approach which incorporates careful and considerate treatment of fundamental resources necessary to life. Alongside quality and occupational safety, for us environmental protection forms an essential constituent aspect of our work. It motivates us to review existing achievements and to implement continual improvements.
In all our fields of activity, we work towards further advancement of the state of the art as the yardstick for our actions, and in so doing contribute under our own responsibility towards the creation of environmentally responsible products and technologies. We also endeavour to make sparing use of existing resources. Taking ecological, economic and social aspects into consideration, we strive to conserve nature as the essential basis for life, not only for the present generation but also for generations to come.

Environmental preservation concerns everyone. Careful use of natural resources, reduced emissions, increased plant safety and other environmentally responsible achievements are only possible through the committed action of every member of our workforce. Each individual employee can contribute within their own personal work environment towards achieving these improvements, and help to put environmental protection concepts into practice one step at a time. Our active and innovative approach to environmental protection should be reflected in the thoughts and actions of our employees.

Occupational safety – responsibility towards our workforce

A sustainable approach also encompasses reliable protection for our workforce from any direct or indirect risk to health and safety. Our comprehensive occupational safety concept is based on an integral consideration of the work system in place which encompasses all the relevant technical, organizational and personal aspects involved in achieving maximum safety.

Acting responsibly means taking a preventive, systematic and comprehensive approach to all aspects of safety. Only in this way is it possible to identify, evaluate and eliminate risks. This involves for instance ensuring that our plant and equipment is designed to minimize faults, and to prevent and respond tolerantly to errors. Safe operation of equipment in our production facilities is guaranteed by written instructions, training measures and practical exercises.
