Tight as a drum
Chemicals, foodstuffs, cleaning agents and aromatic substances are kept, transported and stored in drums and containers. Bayern-Fass supplies the industry mainly with reconditioned drums, IBCs and canisters. In future, the family company will also manufacture new drums made of steel at its site in Aichach. This new product range of 200-litre drums is designed to carry materials in solid and paste form. When it comes to sealing the lid of the drum, Bayern-Fass has opted for a particularly tear-resistant and adhesive material with excellent compression recovery from RAMPF Giessharze, specialists in the development, production and sale of resin systems made of polyurethane, epoxy and silicon.

Thanks to its very low viscosity, good adhesion, high mechanical strength and outstanding compression recovery, the RAKU-PURĀ® 33-1024 foam gasket from RAMPF Giessharze is ideal for sealing containers and manufacturing filters. In addition, the semi-rigid moulded foam with integral skin is also very robust. The two-component system is water-repellent, has an abrasion-resistant surface and excellent chemical and ageing resistance. Due to its short pot life and curing time, the system is usually processed by two-component mixing and dispensing machines.
In order to apply the foam gasket, Bayern-Fass has now integrated a new mixing and dispensing machine from sister company RAMPF Dosiertechnik into its production system for new drums. The new dispensing machine applies the foam to the lids of the 200-litre drums before turning them 180 degrees and stacking them without altering the stripe dimension. The manufacturer recommends a curing time of two minutes for the moulded foam. The liquid system begins to react in 30-40 seconds, while the tack-free time is two to three minutes. RAMPF Dosiertechnik is one of the leading manufacturers of low-pressure mixing and dispensing systems for processing one-, two-, and multi-component reaction resin systems. The companies in the RAMPF Group work together to ensure they provide the best possible material and machine solutions for their customers.
