RAMPF presents ecological boards and standard plugs for electrical cars at the symposium "Innovative Suppliers 2010"

At the annual congress "Innovative suppliers 2010” in Ingolstadt which takes place on 23rd  June 2010, the RAMPF Group companies, RAMPF Giessharze and RAMPF Tooling, Grafenberg put their focus on sustainable concepts for the automotive industry. As part of the accompanying exhibition at the Audi Forum, the plastic materials experts present an ecological board material for design studies and the European standard plug for recharging electric cars from MENNEKES produced with RAMPF casting resins at booth 103.

Ecological board material for automotive models

Many models in the automotive industry are made using boards from RAMPF Tooling. Recently the company introduced an ecological board material.

"The symposium is more than just a discussion forum. It offers us the opportunity to present sustainable solutions based on polyurethanes, epoxies and silicones", says Dr. Frank Birkelbach, responsible for international sales at RAMPF Giessharze. The focus of the presentation which takes place on booth 103 lies on sustainability. For this reason RAMPF Giessharze displays the European standard connector for charging electric cars. It is manufactured for the company MENNEKES and produced with RAMPF polyurethane casting resin. Other exhibits such as brake lights and door modules show the various applications of the brand RAKU-PUR®. The diverse plastics are used for secure sealing, foaming, bonding, casting and shaping. A comprehensive large-contract manufacturing service is also part of the product portfolio. "If the customer needs more, we also offer material and equipment from a single source. We then work together with our sister company RAMPF Dosiertechnik located in Zimmern, which specializes in low-pressure two-component mixing systems", explains Birkelbach.

Sustainable materials for modeling
RAMPF Tooling, the world's largest manufacturer of board materials, also relies on the team work within the RAMPF Group. Only recently, the specialist for modeling materials introduced a new board for styling and data control models into the market. The material RAKU-TOOL® MB-0540 is manufactured using predominantly recycling polyols produced by the partner company RAMPF Ecosystems. RAMPF Ecosystems uses polyurethane waste from within the RAMPF group, recycles it and then reintroduces it into the production cycle.

With the development of its Close Contour Casting systems RAMPF Tooling has already taken a step towards sustainability in the modeling and tooling market. “The close contour materials enable for newly developed products to be shown in their real shape within a short space of time. But that is not enough, through the close contour shape, less waste is generated”, comments Peter Kimmerle, Sales and Marketing Director at RAMPF Tooling. As a further highlight for the “Innovative Suppliers 2010” symposium his Peter Kimmerle’s team will be presenting various rapid prototyping systems.
