Trend-setting solutions at Euromold 2008
RAMPF Tooling impresses trade fair visitors
Grafenberg – Despite initial concerns about the current economic climate, Eu-romold 2008 turned out to be a full success for RAMPF Tooling. Numerous visitors showed great interest in the new products from the material specialist. RAMPF Tooling’s focus for this year’s trade fair for tool and mold making was on the presentation of the new Close Contour Paste RAKU-TOOL® CP-6090 and new liquid materials. Furthermore, the new foundry board RAKU-TOOL WB-1210 was presented for the first time.

The new foundry board stands for high abrasion resistance and good compressive strength.

The new polyurethane paste RAKU-TOOL CP-6090 stands for a quick application and cures within twelve hours at room temperature.

Part of the carbon fibre prepreg casing was produced using a RAKU-TOOL resin infusion mold.
Euromold exhibits the complete process chain for tool and model making, from idea to series production. RAMPF Tooling, the specialist for modeling materials, greatly expanded its product range in recent years. The latest developments were presented to the trade fair visitors in Frankfurt. For the first time, the new foundry board RAKU-TOOL WB-1210 was introduced as one of the latest innovations. It is specially suited for the production of foundry patterns, pattern plates for high pressure molding tools and core boxes. Key properties include a very high abrasion resistance, excellent resistance to chemicals and very good compressive strength. It is also resistant to dry ice cleaning, very easy to machine and to shape manually.
The tooling expert presented five products from its paste range. The spotlight fell on the new product RAKU-TOOL CP-6090 which is a polyurethane based material. Close Contour Pastes are used in the automotive, marine, wind energy as well as the aerospace industry. They are particularly easy and quick to process. Once the paste application has been completed, the polyurethane paste can already be ma-chined after twelve hours room temperature cure. Furthermore the paste does not slump on vertical surfaces or overhead even when applied in layers of 20 mm thickness.
RAMPF Tooling’s Close Contour Casting process saves the user time and money. The process allows for quicker machining, less tool wear and less wastage due to the close contour shape. There are seven products available which can be used for modeling, metal forming, lay-up tools, seamless galvano bath models and also for the foundry industry. The Close Contour Casting process has many advantages for the customer. “We only require particulars on the dimensions and we can deliver a close contour casting ready for machining”, explains Sales Director Peter Kimmerle. The whole casting process takes place at RAMPF Tooling and the customer receives the final close contour casting ready for machining.
This year’s exhibition was completed through the display of new liquid materials which are especially suited for the composites area. The infusion system RAKU-TOOL EL-2203 / EH-2970 was exhibited. It has a high temperature resistance and also demonstrates good flow and wetting properties. A real eye catcher was the display of the Kalex motorbike for which a carbon fibre prepreg casing was produced using a RAKU-TOOL resin infusion mold. “The exhibition has shown that during difficult economic times a quality orientated customer looks to work with a flexible partner like RAMPF and to set new standards with innovative products and trend-setting solutions“, concludes Sales Director Peter Kimmerle.
